As we had a family party last week, my sister in law Laura and my friend Victoria tasked me with doing their nails the night before it. So I thought I'd share the designs with you. Both were firsts for me, and I really loved the end result, as did the girls luckily enough!
For Victoria I did my first ever Aztec nails design. A bit of a mix match of colours and designs meant she could work her outfit around it for the next night. When she showed her nails to her boyfriend he told her they looked like Spanish pots, result!
Laura had asked me to do her a design in black and white but pretty much left the rest up to me. I decided to try out a Paisley print design, which I've been looking to do for a while. I was really pleased with the way they turned out, but decided just to do the design on her ring fingers and highlight the rest of her nails with a polka dot trim.
After spending all my time doing their nails, waiting for coats to dry etc, I ended up with a pretty boring design on my own nails! An all over pail pink with neon pink leopard print on my ring fingers. They did go with my dress though...outfit post to come! Please ignore the dodgy fake tan on my fingers. It was just freshly applied...
What do you think? Which design is your favourite?

Nails of the day - neon leopard print
After having a touch of the midweek blues today (I've got a cheek after a 3 day weekend!), I decided to cheer myself up with some fun nails. I applied Nails Inc in Floral Street as a base, two coats gives a gorgeous, bright white shade, it always reminds me of the old days when we used to paint our nails with tipp-ex! Then I did the leopard print design down one side of each nail using Nails Inc in Chelsea Park, a bright neon coral shade, and the Models Own Wah Nails nail art pen in black. And I finished off with a quick coat of Seche Vite.
I was really pleased with the outcome. What do you think...?

Magnetic nails
I love a new nail trend, so was really keen to try out the magnetic nail polishes after Nails Inc launched theirs. The polishes work by having metallic particles in them. The lid contains a magnet and when it's held close to your still wet polish it moves these particles into the design hidden in the lid. The finish is really effective.
I actually tried the Nails Inc one a few months ago, but having never tried any of the newer brands up until now I wasn't really sure whether or not they were any good. Also my Nails Inc magnetic nails were actually done in the store in Frasers, hence the shiny, long lasting finish and much nicer shapes than my own, sat-in-the-pub-on-a-Sunday-night manicure!

Nails Inc |
I love the green colour of the Nails Inc shade and think the magnetic design looks really effective. My nails didn't chip for about a week too, although that could have been helped by the fact it was done by a professional! I can't see the same green colour on the Nails Inc site now, so I don't know if it was a limited edition or if it's just sold out. Their magnetic polishes are £13 and they have 8 shades including some newer styles with a fishnet magnetic design.
Barry M |
The Barry M shade isn't as shiny and jewel-like as the Nails Inc one and to be honest the picture doesn't really do the silver and black shade justice. As I mentioned, I did these nails sat in the pub on a Sunday night, so I really shouldn't have expected much from them, but the did start to chip after just a day. I'd really love to try some of the other colours that Barry M do in the magnetic polish though as I'm usually a big fan of their polishes. They do 4 colours in total and each comes with a different design of magnetic lid. Plus the Barry M one is only £4.99 so I think i'll definitely by trying a couple more...I've got my eye on the violet shade.
Have you tried any of the magnetic polishes? I know there's a few brands out there with them now. Which is your favourite?

Nails of the day - lather, rinse, repeat
I'm starting to worry a bit about my obsession for animal prints. Whether it's in my clothes, my accessories or my nails I can't seem to get enough of it. Last night I decided to give my nails a new twist with some bright pink leopard print. Inspired by the lovely Gem Fatale this is actually the first time I've managed a successful leopard print, my other attempts usually end badly!
The neon pink nail polish is by Misa, I picked it up after a manicure in my local salon way back last year and, I'm not gonna lie, I think the main reason for the purchase was the amazing name "lather, rinse, repeat" I love it! I can't actually find anywhere to buy it online in the UK, but try your local salon or good old eBay of course! The leopard print was achieved with the Model's Own Wah Nails nail art pen.
Now that I can finally do it, I think leopard print might be my new go-to nail art style!

Nails of the day - leopard lovelies
Yay it's the weekend! Have you all got lots planned? I've got a busy one with a couple of parties to go to (including our own house-warming, wooop!) so I decided it was time for some new nails...
I've had these Nails Rock nail wraps in my house for months since I got them in a Glossybox. I have a bit of a thing for leopard print so I was really pleased that was the design I received. I've been meaning to use them for ages but I just keep forgetting about them, so I decided now was as good a time as any to try nail wraps for the first time. They were really simple to use although I only applied them last night so time will tell how long they last.
I decided to just use the wraps on my ring fingers as a highlight and use Models Own in nude beige on the rest of my fingers. I think they look really effective together and the beauty is that I now have loads of wraps left over for more nail fun, yay! What do you think? Have you used nail wraps before?

Nails of the day - sex kitten
Sorry for the misleading blog post name...but how much do I love Leighton Denny nail polish in Sex Kitten? As so often happens, I think the name of the colour is doing it for me more than the polish itself but hey, it's still a pretty gorgeous colour. An almost metallic, pearlised silvery blue, it totally changes depending on the light. So as you can imagine, it was a joy to try and take a picture of it...
Anyway, when I first pulled the polish out of my overflowing nail polish drawer I did have a different nail art idea in mind. But once I'd applied two coats I changed my mind and decided to go for some easy polka dots instead. The other design can wait for now.
I used my Models Own, Wah nail art pen for the polka dots. This pen is like the best present I've ever had, thanks to my gorgeous BFF Fiona! I noticed that Models Own have released 3 more colours in the pens this week, I'm waiting for payday so I can buy all 3...I couldn't pick between them all!
Topped off the pretty polka dots with good old Nails Inc caviar top coat.
What do you think? An easy bit of midweek nail art for while the boy watches footy...story of my life!!
